Adaptive Biking Day
Saturday, September 27, 2025
Family-friendly fun for all ages—because nearly every family knows someone with a neurological condition who can benefit
Do you have a neurological or other medical condition making biking difficult or unsafe?
We understand that challenges like balance issues, weakness, spasticity, rigidity, limb loss, and other physical limitations can make biking hard. That’s why we’ve partnered with several organizations to create a fun, supportive day where you can explore and try out adaptive biking options—so you can discover new ways to enjoy life on two (or three) wheels again!
More Information:

We ask that participants pay a small fee to help cover the costs of the event. Any proceeds will be split between the two nonprofits: Neuro Neighborhood and Spokes Fighting Strokes.

Please have anyone who will be attending (participants or spectators) use the link to register.

We encourage you to bring along friends or family to help increase awareness of options available for adaptive biking. Please be sure each person is registered so we know how many people to expect.
We hope to have a food truck available for snacks and drinks throughout the day. More details to come.
Please consider bringing a water bottle to stay hydrated and feel free to bring a helmet, if you have your own.
**In order to be best prepared for the event, we do ask some medical questions at registration. By completing this form, you are consenting to sharing that information with the Neuro Neighborhood. Any medical information will not be shared with anyone outside necessary staff for the event.
Meet Dan Zimmerman - Founder of Spokes Fighting Strokes
Dan Zimmerman survived a severe stroke in 2005 that impaired his mobility and speech. Through determination and the discovery of recumbent biking, he regained his independence and founded Spokes Fighting Strokes to help others do the same. His journey reflects Neuro Neighborhood’s mission to empower those with neurological conditions to reclaim their independence through community and movement.
FAQs

While we do not have access to a hoyer lift, we will have therapists available to provide up to maximal assistance for transfers in and out of the bikes. We encourage you to fill out the registration form or contact us directly at neuroneighborhood@gmail.com to discuss any other concerns. Our goal with this event is to allow as many people as possible the opportunity to bike.
-
We are all about building community! If you already have an adaptive bike and would like to bring it along, please do. Or if you are accompanying a loved one and would like to bring your own bike, we encourage you to do so. We just ask that each person attending registers so we have an accurate headcount.
-
We love all furry pets! If you choose to bring your dog, please be sure they are leashed, you pick up after them, and they are comfortable around bikes and other people.
-
All money raised will primarily be used to cover the cost of the event. Remaining proceeds will be split between the two nonprofits: Neuro Neighborhood and Spokes Fighting Strokes. You may choose to donate more at registration or donate directly to either organization through their website. Thank you for your support!
