Adaptive Recreation Day
If you have struggled to feel confident with some of your favorite activities, this event is for you! Whether it's due to balance issues, weakness, spasticity, limb loss, or other challenges, we invite you to join us to learn and experience the opportunities of adaptive recreation.
Saturday, September 26th 10am - 1pm
St Peter’s Evangelical Lutheran Church 10 Delp Rd, Lancaster
-
We ask that participants pay this small fee to help cover the costs of the event. Any proceeds will be donated to Neuro Neighborhood.

This is a drop in event. You are able to arrive at any time between 10a-1p and stay as long as you would like trying out the different activities.
We encourage you to bring along friends or family to help increase awareness of options available for adaptive recreation.
Snacks and water will be available.
Our Adaptive Activities
-
We have a bike for you! We will have recumbent bikes to make you feel more stable, arm bikes if you have trouble using your legs or have an amputation, power assisted bikes to help with propulsion, and more!
We encourage you to come out and try a variety of bikes provided by Lancaster Recumbent and Spokes Fighting Strokes. There are so many ways bikes can be adapted to allow you to safely get out and be active.
*We recognize that brain health includes brain safety! Please bring along a helmet if you plan to participate in biking. We will have a few extra helmets to share, if needed.
-
Whether you have done yoga for years or are new to the practice, chair yoga can be a great option to stay involved without worrying as much about safety or positions.
Our event instructor, Michelle, will be providing 20min chair yoga sessions on each hour to get you introduced to the options available. She will help you adapt moves and positions to ensure safety while still participating in wonderful recreation that supports mindfulness, flexibility, and strength.

FAQs
-
While we do not have access to a hoyer lift, we will have therapists available to provide up to maximal assistance for transfers in and out of the bikes. We encourage you to fill out the registration form or contact us directly at neuroneighborhood@gmail.com to discuss any other concerns. Our goal with this event is to allow as many people as possible the opportunity to bike.
-
We are all about building community! If you already have an adaptive bike and would like to bring it along, please do. Or if you are accompanying a loved one and would like to bring your own bike, we encourage you to do so. We just ask that each person attending registers so we have an accurate headcount.
-
We love all furry pets! If you choose to bring your dog, please be sure they are leashed, you pick up after them, and they are comfortable around bikes and other people.
-
All money raised will primarily be used to cover the cost of the event. Remaining proceeds will be split between the two nonprofits: Neuro Neighborhood and Spokes Fighting Strokes. You may choose to donate more at registration or donate directly to either organization through their website. Thank you for your support!
